Folks around Mayberry know that the Fife's are wiry. When Barney was in high school he was painfully thin. So much so, he could reach into a milk bottle and take out an egg. Of course, he can't do that now.
Barney buckled down, began eating, and none of it went to fat...it all went to muscle. He's now 135 to 135 1/2 lbs...he's up and down.
